Conclusion
From the findings in the previous sections, I conclude that short term high density ping traffic measurement is a useful but stressful technique in revealing end-to-end Internet high density traffic behaviour. I also conclude that,
- under some conditions two-way short term high density traffic patterns can be interpreted by simple buffering and queueing models;
- buffering and queueing affects the behaviour of high density traffic patterns;
- packet size can significantly influence the behaviour of high density traffic patterns;
- under certain conditions ping request packets sent as fast as possible might not reach the network and may depart out of sequence;
- ping reply packets received out of sequence may be due to their request packets having departed from the source host out of sequence.
